Did you know you can plant up your grass verge?
DCC allow homeowners to have cultivation rights over the verges outside their property. Cultivation rights, if agreed, would typically allow a house holder with adjoining verge to plant with low growing shrubs/bedding plants and bulbs. There is no charge for such a licence and the agreement would remain in perpetuity. Planting tends to deter over run from vehicles but of course there can be no guarantee and the homeowner is responsible for the maintenance. More »
Can I put stones on the verge?
Unfortunately placing stones within the highway wouldn't be allowed due to potential damage and accidents. Placing of flowers and low level shrubs should be enough to deter residents from parking on the grassed areas in question.
Can I apply if I rent the property?
You don't have to be a home owner in order to apply for a cultivation licence for highway land adjacent to the property in which you are renting, » Less
